During Coaching my clients, we’ve talked about $1,000 and up to $2,500. But I’ve not had any clients hire through this resource as of yet. I put together an SOP for this program. I see it as being broader than just being a sign-on bonus. Here is how I’ve written it up.
Referral – Relocation Bonus Program Standard Operation Procedure Revised 12/12/2021
Other words that could be used to describe this program are; Relocation, Bonus, Signing Bonus, Sign-on Bonus, Retention Bonus, Employee Referral, Assistance, Incentive, Special Compensation, Consideration, Reward, etc. The point is, at times we may need to incentivize a person that is considering a career change to work with us and help them offset their personal costs. Financial assistance may just be the consideration that sways them in our favor. Recruiting in a highly competitive job market can be very difficult. We need to think outside the box and from their position. WIIFM – “What’s In It For Me”. To get talented people to look and hopefully act on our Job Postings, we may need to use a carrot that catches their interest. This Program Benefit is just another tool in your arsenal. There can be two parts to this program. A Referral Bonus Program and the Relocation Bonus Program.
The Referral Bonus Program is designed to attract and acquire help from within our industry and/or community to find and promote our company to those that may fit our specific job requests from those in their personal sphere of influence. Each of us knows people. The goal is to ask people we know to help us find and refer candidates that may be a fit. If one of their candidates is hired, we would like to compensate them for helping us in our endeavor. Some of these people may be our current or past employees, employees of competitors, family or friends, parts suppliers, tool suppliers, job placement counselors, etc. Please see the Referral Bonus Program document for more details on how it works.
The other part is the Relocation Bonus Program. This program can be set up to be very flexible. From how much we pay, to when we pay, to the terms and conditions that will apply. It can vary from individual to individual that is applying for the same position as well. If we are looking for a Master ASE Certified Technician/Diagnostician and a B Technician applies, not all the Job Qualifications of the posted ad are met. Our offers could change to meet that specific situation. That’s why Up to $X,XXX Relocation Bonus is used. Please see the Relocation Bonus Program document for more details on how it works.

Your staff is being given hundreds of reasons every day why customers will never buy at this time. All is lost. The economy is crashing. Your auto repair shop and their job is doomed.
One or more of the three reasons we listed WILL cause some customers to buy. Your staff needs to find those people and make the sale.
If you stubbornly maintain a negative outlook your staff will follow and it will be reflected in your sales.

I found a mechanics/technicians report card. I could not find a service advisor report card. What I really need is a report card/assessment form that has all of the boxes for the purpose of a 90 day review for my current service advisor/parts and service director. Any help?Peter, after your request, we created and added the Automotive Service Advisor Performance Report Card to the Premium Documents area in the Service Advisors and Writers section. It is similar to the one we have for technicians, but with changes made for the different positions.
Thanks for the suggestion!Site Administrator

Unfortunately they are not in the 35+ SMS comparison.
All of the reviews are outstanding and anything it was missing in older reviews appears to have been added to the software. I have a demo on 1-6-2020. I’m opening my doors on February 3, 2020.
Rick, the survey was sent to Shop Monkey. They responded that were not going to participate.

AdministratorNovember 4, 2019 at 8:03 am in reply to: Best shop management softwareMatthew, the answer to this is going to be highly dependent on what you want the software to do for you. Shops vary greatly. Owners want different things even when the shops are similar. We suggest:
1: Make a list of features that are important to you.
2: Review the comparison chart and see which software systems fit your list.
3: Look at the detailed survey results for the ones you selected and narrow your list down further.
4: Contact the ones remaining and ask for a demonstration.
5: Ask questions in the forums on this site.
Software is arguably the most important piece of equipment that you will purchase, so it is worthy of spending the effort to get it right.
Good luck!

AdministratorOctober 21, 2018 at 9:54 am in reply to: Posting Idea – What do you think?John, thanks for the ideas.
What we can do is note in the post titles “VIDEO – XX Minutes” so you at least know that it is a video and how long it will be.
Due to lengths of videos ranging from less than a minute to more than an hour and because these come from a variety of sources (we do not create them ourselves) it makes posting complete transcripts far more than simple. In many cases they likely don’t even exist.
So, we hope the title change helps a bit!

AdministratorJune 7, 2018 at 7:24 am in reply to: Choosing the Right Management Software for Your Auto Repair ShopJacob, the answer is really dependent on the situation. Just like someone might ask you what is the best vehicle to buy, the first thing you would probably do is find out if they need an SUV or a minivan or a sedan or a pick up, etc.
We have gathered many resources all in one place for you to make it much easier to search for what you need. Click on each title below:
