We discourage older vehicles. But we decide everything case by case.

I recommend Elite Worldwide.  I have been at this for my whole life. Shop owner for the past 25 years. Joe Marconi was my coach and provided a wealth of information. Well worth the investment if you follow their advice.

Is Complete Auto Reports an SMS or does it integrate with your SMS?

If it is separate, what SMS are you using?

    Thank you for your input.

So maybe I misstated my inquiry. We prefer a personalized “check in”.  I’m looking for something that will consistently gather accurate information regarding symptoms. My staff would have the software on their workstation or a tablet.

Such as: Customer states; I have a leak.
We ask: How do you know? Drips, puddle, steam, smoke, odor?
    – What color?  Consistency?  Oily, watery?
    – Any warning lights on?
    – How long has it been leaking?
    – Have you had to add fluid?
    – If so, how much? How often?
    – Coolant leak? Has it over heated?
    – If so, how long was the vehicle driven in that condition?
As you can see, this can be used for a multitude of symptoms.

RepairPal was very thorough vetting my shop which gave me a sense they are very selective about the shops they sign on. We are a five bay shop with two ASE master techs and an apprentice. Over 20 years in business. They said to expect 8 to 10 leads a month. We may have hit that once or twice since the spring 2016 when we signed on. Unfortunately, the leads are mostly DIY’er’s looking for help or questions like, Will my Mustang engine fit in a Camaro? We track our marketing efforts closely and convert most of our leads from Internet searches into repeat customers (our biggest source of new customers), but it’s tough to get RepairPal leads in the door. I suppose it’s not really possible to vet the leads they send our way and not sure what we can change on our end. We are located just north of Indianapolis, have a solid customer base and generate over 25 new customers per month. Tom Ham, I would love to know the number of and types of jobs that are being generated for your shop. Your post was from March. Are things still tracking the way you expect?

We use a CPA along with PrimePay. They handle payroll and payroll tax disbursement.

Just did the install last week.  Now the task of setting up the inspection checklists. This is going to require a big shift in our work flow from how we do things now.  Early impression, its still a beta version.

We just discovered the same thing.  Three weeks with an ad on Craigslist equals no results so far.  We have had a few applicants, but none with any experience.  Where else do we advertise for techs?

We close on the holiday. Usually close early the day before and the day after, if its a Friday, depending on the work load. My crew is hourly and have the option to use PTO hours if they have any remaining.

If your local Angie’s List works the same way as the one in Indianapolis the reports can be viewed by any Angie’s List member… some of your customers perhaps.  You do not have to pay as a service provider.  The reviews are posted by members that have used a any service provider.  Not all reviews are positive, hence the report card.  I am a member and use Angie’s List if I need a roofer, plumber, painter, etc.  As a member I can post a review of any service provider I have used.  It is very close to “word of mouth” advertising, which is our biggest source of loyal customers.  My shop has enough positive reviews we have received the Super Service award for the past several years.   Their members tend fit our customer profile so I have purchased some advertising with them to take advantage of email marketing and ad placement when a member is looking for auto repair on Angie’s List.  Angie’s List has been a consistent source of new loyal customers for us.  I will be glad to answer any questions regarding our experience with Angie’s List.  Integrity Automotive. 317-573-0107
