We like ShopWare. I’ve tried several.

-Cloud based, so you can access it anywhere on anything

-Easy to add pictures and videos to document things

    -Paperless

-Easy to create custom inspections and checklists

    -Regular updates

-The owner of the company also owns a repair shop and knows what we are up against.

-Customers can access the repair order online and approve work online; easy documentation when work is approved

    -Easy to learn

That’s the quick list of what I like. Good luck.

I installed the Rapid Air lines almost five years ago. Yes they are costly, but installing them is quick and easy. I am very happy with how they turned out and recommend them.

FastTrak review is a 1 since -1000 isn’t an available rating. I’m a serial dater when it comes to software, I’ve tried several, both server/pc and cloud based, so I have plenty of experience with changing. I am paying FastTrak $100 per month to access my old data after switching to another software program. No other software company I’ve used has charged me to access my data after switching. I would rate FastTrak higher if it weren’t for their “pay to access data” policy.

I looked a long time ago and there was one with multiple compartments that looked good but well over $1k. We have the little keypad box.

We charge a flat fee of $7.55. Does not get charged on oil service or diag/testing only. I’ve wanted to do what Tom does but haven’t had the staff in the past that would consistently bill it out. Current staff would likely be able to do it.

Just getting some traction on paperless, somewhere between 25 and 50%. Techs have been working off of laptops and tablets for about 2 years. I have a ScanSnap ix500 and we are starting to scan receipts and invoices, saving to a Synology NAS which is backed up to Elephant Drive. We have signature pads for customers to sign and can email receipts through FastTrak. Still have systems to develop and improve.

We never get unannounced waiters, so I give them the flexibility to go when they want unless there is a waiter or deadline. They’ll take a late lunch if they have to get a car out. I always liked to go at 11:30 when I was a tech; I’m hungry then and you beat the lunch rush so you can get back quicker if you don’t pack a lunch.

    Worldpac 9.5

Not sure what needs improving but I’m sure there is something.

VIN scan from iPad pull up vehicle in catalog. “Sold with” button lists parts frequently sold with your item.

Mike, I’m not going to be at AAPEX. Can your system do multiple inspections if I want a brake inspection, prepurchase inspection, etc? Can it be customized by me? Can I set up drop down menu items for things like brake pad thickness and rotor thickness to cut down on typing? I didn’t see this product/service on the Bolt On site.

There are a couple companies starting to do automotive inspection forms on tablets; I’m trying to do that and take it one step further with tablets and voice to text. I’d like each tech to have a tablet that would have forms for inspections, parts requests, upsells etc. to fill out and a way to use voice to text to add the notes/story as they go. These could then be emailed to advisor and copy/paste into POS software. They would also be able to access alldata online, identifix whatever you have on the tablet through the shop wireless and have it in front of them at the vehicle. Requires a standard size tablet and an Otterbox defender case for protection. It’s still very much in the beginning stages though.
