To cover carryover hours for flat rate techs, does anyone advance the tech $XXX when they begin employment and deduct it when employment ends? Depending on your software, something like this could save a huge amount of time tracking those carryover hours each week.

NO! Never advance pay, I would rather create a process everyone can follow to track partly completed work – We use autovitals for this now.

We track the hours worked. Pay for all hours worked at the end of pay period. The rest go on the next period. Techs are responsible for tracking their hours to compare to what the system says, and getting with us to correct any difference.
