Thanks, that’s a great idea and will implement it.

I don’t think my clients would appreciate that, then again we are as
far as i know the highest cost oil service in town.
One of the big box stores usually has the gallon jugs on sale at some
point and i send the apprentice to pick up 50 or so.
If I was competing with the coupons doing real cheap oil changes then
yes I would consider that.
I guess it comes down to knowing your clientele and which
market segment you service.

Been thinking about that. Our main traffic is from 3 sources, YP,
google and AAA tows. YP and google metrics are bang on average, AAA is
down.
The Kicker is that the tickets >$500 have just not been there. No fuel
pumps, no clutches, no transmission / engine installs, no timing
belts, etc etc. 1 head gasket job, that’s it.
No support for the bread and butter oil changes, brake jobs, flushes
and diagnostics.
Some of the mentioned jobs cannot be put off, so its not that people
are putting off the repairs, and I sure as hell can sell those jobs
when the opportunity arises.
This month they just have not materialized, but hey, the shop has
never looked cleaner!

I open 9 till 2 on Saturdays and the guys rotate, just one tech and we
do light work and oil changes etc. tidy the shop etc and usually book a
job or 2 for the coming week.
I get pizza in for lunch and try to have some fun. Most people now get
that if they want to stop by and shoot the breeze, pick my brain or
otherwise waste my time, Saturday is the day to do it!
