    Hello to all,

I have had customers ask about replacement keys and fobs, I am considering investing in the equipment to do this. Looking at the cost of equipment and inventory,  I would need to do  8 to 10 a week to be profitable. I would also like the convenience of not relying on a mobile lock smith every time we need this service. Any one else doing this ? Thoughts or cautions for me please and thankyou.

I like the idea. I’ve looked into it a bit in the past. I’ve classified it as one of those sublet services that just doesn’t work financially for us. We don’t sublet much because I like the control, but there are a few things where it just makes more sense for us to have an expert with all the resources do it and be done with it. 🙂

You would have to drive business on purpose for this to pay. I worked in a Mazda dealership with 6 techs and we didn’t do a key a day.
