Currently using Winworks Auto Shop, rate it 1 since that’s the lowest score. Program has some nice features, but it is such a badly written piece of software and it has such a clunky feel to use that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I’ll be nice and give customer service a 3 due to they work on call back system which would sometimes be 24 hrs. On a good day it was 2-3 hrs. I gave up calling and just figure it out, which wastes a lot of time,

Last used Mitchell ( version 5.9 & 6.4 I believe ) a little over a year ago, rate it 7-8 based on that. The newer version is probably much better from some of the upgrades I hear it got. I give customer service a 8 as it was always pretty good, just some long ( 15 -20 minutes ) hold times once and awhile.
Last used Profit Boost about 6 years ago when I had my shop, Rate it 10 based on that version. Customer service was always great also. Only draw back for some might be not having a good internet connection since it’s web based.

I was always under the impression it should about 20% of the job ( or gross sales ).

     Basically 20-20-40-20 rule.
20% Cost of goods / 20% Production labor / 40% General operating expenses ( includes non- production payroll ) / 20% per tax profit.

If one area is off  that’s the area to focus on fixing.

JASchmidt, where are you located? I’m in the Southern Calif. area & looking to make a change. Maybe we should talk? I’m a former shop owner of many years now doing service writing.

Be careful with “….Must perform all recommended maintenance and

repairs with you, not valid if any repair or maintenance work done

else where with out approval from you (out of town)…”

Repairs are one thing, but not normal maintenance. If a dealer

requires this to keep a warranty valid then they must do the servicing

for free(or hide the cost in the service or product in the beginning

    ).

That’s why all a customer needs to do to maintain factory warranty is

have a sales receipt listing the oil & filter ( or whatever is

required for that service )with the mileage noted on it.
