    Customers Who Resist an Initial Fee for Testing

    Sometimes you just need to build a little trust. If the customer appears to have some potential, write them up for a “No Charge Quick Check”. Allow for and pay the tech for a few minutes to “take a look” at the issue. If the solution is obvious, estimate it and offer the repair. If more than a quick look is required, offer testing as you normally would do. You will find that in many cases these quick checks will turn into profitable jobs.

    I like this method and has worked for me. Remember though, a customer that you fight to get is sometimes a customer you still have to fight to keep. Establishing trust and having a honest reputation works better.
