  • Pick Up and Delivery System for Customer Cars

As we are doing more pick up and delivery and anticipate this to be a growing need, we want to create a better set of rules/policies/procedures to follow.

    At your shop:

1 Who does the pick-up and delivery?

2 How do they get there?

3 When do they do it?

4 Is there a minimum RO amount?

5 Is there a limit on how far?

6 Is there a cost to the customer?

7 Anything else I should be asking?

    Thanks! 😊

We do not provide this service.  Only on rare occasions for the elderly.

We always have picked up for 29 years,we have 4 cars just for that and 5 loaner cars. One of our in front guys does it. Its always been good PR because we pick up at a lot of businesses and all our vehicles have our logo on them. We try to pick up as early as possible but that varys. When its done we text them with the link to pay works great. No charge to them as that’s all figured in our cost. We just pick up in town, but there are a few exceptions for the really good costumers. Its gets us a lot of work and have gotten a lot of referrals because of it.

We are are a smaller shop.  We do about 2-3 pick-up & deliveries per week.  We are selective about who we offer this service.  Priority to existing customers.

1 Who does the pick-up and delivery? The owner

2 How do they get there? Company vehicle for pickup & delivery.  Wife for just pickups

3 When do they do it? A time is scheduled

4 Is there a minimum RO amount? Not at this time but being considered

5 Is there a limit on how far? Within reason

6 Is there a cost to the customer? Folded into repair cost

We are small town America (1200 ppl) and a small shop (1 service tech, 2 auto techs).

We do NOT have loaner vehicles. Why? Insurance is prohibitive and the previous owner (used to be a Ford Dealer) had issues with clients trashing the loaners.

We do pick up customer vehicles and leave our shop truck (a ’74 Ford F350 wrecker w/stick shift) sitting at pick up point. We stay within our town limits.  No charge. We do 1-3 per day.

Our service tech generally picks up and delivers vehicles. We shoot a text to see if client’s vehicle is available for pick up if there is not a pre-set time of service.
