  • Keeping track of your tools

When my dad ran his shop I remember the tool drawers being filled with various sizes and types of tools. I also remember the sound of metallic clinks and clanks as he rummaged through them to find just the right one.

Today, we have the ability to bring more order to the chaotic world of the automotive tech, by using those great new foam drawer organizers. Using two different colors, the back foam, shows through where the tool cutout is, letting the tech know that a tool is missing or mislaid somewhere.

This technique also reinforces in the mind of the tech, on a daily basis, that there is a place for every tool and a tool for every place, bringing order and improved efficiency into their day. That usually brings a payoff of higher profits over time, with less time spent searching for lost tools.

Any other ideas about bringing order into the world of the tech?
