Just say no, GPS Global Profit Solutions
It seems unlikely that this company would bring any true value to a shop owner. I would tell you the name of the company if i knew what it was, but they did not share that.
So last Friday, “Sharon” calls me and asks if i have a few minutes for “Steve” somebody next week to discuss how their company can help us save money on taxes. It was a speel I have heard before, and it immediately felt the hairs on my neck stand up. Normally i just hang up with no remorse what so ever. In this case it concerned me that they were actually going to be feet on the ground in Kalkaska Michigan with what ever they had to “sell”. Decided to give them 1/2 hour of my time to see what it was all about and maybe help “educate” them about our industry.
I spend 1/2 hour with him. Nice enough guy, who wants to turn me over to his “next guy” to audit my tax returns so they can tell me how much they can save me by refiling my last three years of returns. $1300 bucks for the audit, but if i end up telling them I am not interested, no charge. Then, after audit, they would turn me over to another “next guy” to go over their tax planning proposal.
I am guessing there are more “next guy’s” in his arsenal.
Absolutely got zero value out of the conversation.
I did find out who this company is, after having the pleasure of throwing their auditor out of the parking lot this morning. It appeared she drove up from Chicago, i hope just for me. I meet here in the parking lot along with our Chief of Police. I made it clear in no uncertain terms how much she was not welcome in our town or county. I took her picture and a picture of the car she drove in with and told her to leave. She never even got the chance to tell me the name of the company, i wouldn’t let her.
But being the persistent sob’s that they are, an hour later I got a call from “client services” for “GPS” and they wanted to know what the problem was. The caller explains that i probably got a call from SMS to set up an appointment for the GPS rep. Really?? How insane. I stopped her in her tracks and asked if she had any more abbreviations she wanted to throw at me, and i wanted the actual name of the company. The company name was Global Profit Solutions. That was all I needed.
Truly depressing to read the stories of business folks, most already in trouble, that have been hurt by this company.
Bottom line, if you are approached by anyone from GPS, SMS, IPA, ITA, IBA, ABS (and I am sure there are more) and they claim to be business or tax consultants, just say no. If you need convincing, read some of the heartbreaking reviews outlined below. I suspect the owners that need help the most are also the ones most likely to fall prey to these tactics.
GPS, SMS, IPA, ITA, IBA, ABS is not your silver bullet.
