If you are dealing with any type of corrosion/rust a good advisor will sell it at time plus parts and promise to keep the customer informed of extras if any along the way. Some type of ball park number will have to be given to start ( nobody just gives a blank check). Don’t low ball – be realistic . We do hundreds of feet of line annually and usually make out pretty good. You do have to have a labor intensive labor rate to charge it out  –  because you aren’t selling much for parts. In our shop each bay is attempting to make $150 + a hour including labor and parts profit. Hope this helps.

We have been contacted several times from Angie’s list about becoming a preferred shop – basically paying to be seen. I thought their job was to find quality businesses for their paying subscribers to use? Plus people can post reviews about your business without ever doing business with you. They should certify the customer before they can post a review, We couldn’t justify spending the money . Work on getting google reviews or hook up with a company to post certified reviews.  Just a thought .

We found having the techs walking around to print stickers a big waste. We use the brother QL700 priced VERY reasonable. Prints only in black and white. Stickers don’t fall to the floor. You do need to scrape them off .It must be installed on a  computer. However once you have made templates ( using your OWN logo and info – they are completely customizable ) they can be saved to multiple computers and stickers templates can be made for other items like timing belt replacement , air filters , pm services like flushes that can be attached under the hood. Since each of our techs has his own PC they all now have their own label /sticker machine (6) at less than the price of ( 1 ) lube sticker machine. No ink and label stock is cheap. Rate it a 9.5
