Took them over a year to remove a VERY questionable review of me on their site . After having a few people , that had visited the site and my shop , write me a couple of good reviews I thought all was well . Seems now that they won’t even list shops that don’t pay their extortion fees . My shop and reviews are now not listed on their site . I guess now that they have conned enough shops to pay them their extortion fees they don’t need the smaller shops listed . Their pricing for estimates is somewhat better but still way too low for my area . There is a few more startup websites trying do what repairpal is doing . Beware of them and their tactics .

I just had to find a replacement for a guy just like that . The newspaper ad was almost 500.00 for a week ! 2 years ago it was 240.00 . Wish I could raise my rates like that . I’m a NAPA autocare center . As such , I got to run an ad on CAREERBUILDER.COM . Cost me 100.00 for a month . Probably had 100 replies . Got my share of union plumbers,electricians and welders whose unemployment benefits were ending . What losers . Out of that 100 I had 7 that were worth calling in . Ending up hiring one . He has been here two months now . Good worker , shows up on time , has a good adtitude . Those people are out there . You just have to weed through the slackers .

First I have them fill out an application , even if they bring me a resume . You can tell alot about a person just from that . Next I’ll have them set up an old brake rotor on the lathe . Then mount and balance an old tire . If they pass those tests , and you would be amazed at how many “ASE CERTIFIED TECHS” cant pass those , I’ll have them rack up a car and do a complete inspection on it . Watch how he takes the wheels on and off , fills out the inspection sheet , etc , etc . you’ll know pretty quick if the guy is full of S##T . I had pretty good luck posting a job on career builder.com . Had over 75 replys . Of those only about 7 were worth calling . 3 couldnt even get past the brake rotor . You can elimnate the BULLS####ERS pretty fast .
