Most people do not realize how much debris from people’s shoes enters a commercial building. It’s a lot! An ample number of well-placed mats or rugs, both inside and outside of heavily used entrances, can reduce debris by as much as 80%, according to some sources. At our shop, we buy our own and prefer the cross-hatch type. Shaking them out or vacuuming them every so often keeps them clean.
